NG Bailey has won Commissioning Engineering Project of the Year at the 2026 Commissioning Specialists Association (CSA) Awards for its Bradford Endoscopy project, an endoscopy facility delivered within a fully operational hospital.

The engineering and infrastructure services firm announced the win on 14 October. It said the award recognised its engineering team's delivery of the facility while the hospital remained in use.

NG Bailey's announcement did not name the hospital or the client.

Early commissioning

According to NG Bailey, bringing commissioning into the project from the earliest stages allowed its engineers to identify and resolve technical challenges before installation. The company said this reduced the risk of rework and kept the programme on track.

NG Bailey said the project created a clinical environment intended to increase healthcare capacity, improve operational efficiency and support better patient experiences for the local community.

Endoscopy work in Bradford

Separately, contractor Robertson and McBains have each published project pages on a new endoscopy unit at Bradford Royal Infirmary for Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Neither page mentions NG Bailey, and NG Bailey's announcement does not identify its project as this scheme.

Robertson's case study describes a unit with eight treatment rooms serving both acute inpatients and elective outpatients. The endoscopy rooms have anaesthetic and fluoroscopy capabilities, and the unit includes 32 en-suite patient bays with nurse support.

A new link corridor connects the unit to the main hospital building, Robertson said. McBains describes it as a two-storey building physically linked to the main hospital, with patient pods each having their own en-suite bathroom.

The building's services include photovoltaic panels and intelligent building management systems to reduce operational carbon, according to McBains. Robertson said the project took a fabric-first approach to cut regulated energy demand beyond the level required by building regulations.

Robertson said the scheme was delivered in partnership with ProCure23. It formed part of a national Endoscopy Capital Funding bid for 2023/24 and 2024/25 and a Short Form Business Case.

NG Bailey

NG Bailey describes itself as the UK's largest independent engineering and infrastructure services provider. The company was founded in a basement in Leeds as Bailey-Billington with initial capital of £83.

It recorded turnover of £662m in 2025, which it said was the highest in its 104-year history.
