Apollo Fire Detectors staff recognised at Women in Fire Safety Awards 2026
Havant-based detector manufacturer Apollo Fire Detectors, headline sponsor of this year's awards, saw one employee named Administrator of the Year and another commended in the Rising Star category in London.
Apollo Fire Detectors said on 16 October that two of its employees were recognised at the Women in Fire Safety Awards 2026, held the previous evening at the Mercure London Earl's Court, where the Havant manufacturer was headline sponsor.
Lucy Magee, a member of Apollo's HR team, won the Administrator of the Year award. Egle Siusiene, who works on supply chain resilience and component risk management, received a commendation in the Rising Star category.
Apollo said Magee helps make the company a supportive and inclusive place to work. It said Siusiene's work on component risk helps safeguard business continuity and the long-term availability of products for customers worldwide.
The results
The organiser's winners list confirms Magee as Administrator of the Year. Jaheda Begum of Peabody was highly commended in the same category, with Emma Russell of CHPK Group and Hayley Saint of The Portmarnock Group commended.
The organiser defines the Administrator of the Year as someone who holds the business together through support, consistency, hard work and dedication.
The Rising Star Award went to Momoi Suda of Arup. Pragati Yarlagadda of Olympus Management was highly commended and Siusiene commended. The category is open to people of any age who have been in the industry for no more than four years. A separate International Rising Star Award, won by Gizelle Danine Jamero of Arup, ran alongside it.
Woman of the Year 2026 went to Ruth Oliver of the British Automatic Fire Sprinkler Association. Other winners included Sarah Forbes of Design Fire Consultants as Diversity Champion, Fiona Cornfield of the Fire Protection Association for Global Research, Amanda Kimball of the NFPA as International Woman of the Year, and Trigon Fire Safety as Inclusive Company.
The awards
The Women in Fire Safety Awards have run since 2021. According to the organiser's website, they are run by the publication Fire Safety Matters with the aim of increasing diversity in the fire industry.
Apollo's sponsorship of the event is not new. The company was also headline sponsor of the first awards in 2021, when it said the event was intended to address a historical gender imbalance in the fire industry. In 2024 it sponsored a single award category, in a year when its customer relationship manager Michelle Creighton was a finalist.
The company
Apollo Fire Detectors Limited was incorporated on 5 March 1980 and is registered at 36 Brookside Road, Havant, Hampshire, according to Companies House, which classifies it under the manufacture of other electrical equipment.
The company is part of Halma, the FTSE 100 group of life-saving technology companies. It says its fire detection products protect people in more than 100 countries and that, alongside its Havant base, it has regional offices in the UK, China and Germany. Apollo was awarded a Royal Warrant in 2009.
