Advanced's Axis AX shortlisted for Detection Solution of the Year at Fire Buyer Awards 2026
The Newcastle-based fire system manufacturer's UL-listed Axis AX range is up against three rival products in a reader-voted category, with voting closing on 30 October and winners named online on 19 November.

Fire system manufacturer Advanced has had its Axis AX range shortlisted in the Detection Solution of the Year category at the Fire Buyer Awards 2026, the company said.
The awards are organised by International Fire Buyer. Advanced said that, after the nomination and shortlisting stages, winners are decided by a public vote of the publication's readers.
Voting closes on 30 October, and the winners will be announced at an online ceremony on 19 November 2026, according to Advanced.
In a statement, the company said: "We're proud to see Axis AX recognised alongside other leading innovations from across the global fire industry and would like to thank our customers, partners and colleagues for their continued support."
The competition
According to the organiser's entry page, the other nominees in the Detection Solution of the Year category are Sensitron's SMART 3 Blizzard, Hochiki's ACD Multi Sensor With CO and Kidde's MiniLaser.
It is the second year running that Advanced has had a product on the shortlist in this category. In 2025 the company's MxPro 5 panel was shortlisted for Detection Solution of the Year in the Fire Buyer Readers' Awards.
The product
Advanced said Axis AX is designed for fire detection and alarm management in commercial, industrial and public sector buildings, built around a modular design that combines detection with scalable control.
The range comprises fire panels, command centres, audio systems and wired devices. Advanced said the system's networking allows up to 25,000 devices on a single network, and its product page adds that each panel supports up to 200 zones. Standalone control panels are available in one, two and four SLC (signalling line circuit) formats.
Both Advanced's announcement and its product page say the system is approved to UL 864 10th Edition. The announcement also cites UL 268 7th Edition for the fire panels, while the product page says it was the Axis AX detectors that were developed to meet UL 268 7th Edition.
Advanced said the system is designed for ease of installation, commissioning and ongoing management, covering projects from standalone buildings to multi-site developments. It said Axis AX is used in industrial facilities, public services, transport infrastructure, heritage buildings and major development projects.
North American push
Advanced describes Axis AX as its UL-approved fire system designed for the North American market. The company exhibited the range at ISC West, held from 25 to 27 March 2026 at The Venetian Expo in Las Vegas, and said it is investing in the North American market through UL-approved products and distribution partnerships.
All Axis AX panels and control centres are manufactured in the UK, according to the product page. Advanced's head office, training centre and manufacturing facility are in Newcastle upon Tyne.
The company is part of the safety sector of FTSE 100 group Halma plc and says its products protect people and property in more than 80 countries.
Voting in the Fire Buyer Awards is open to readers who register for a free Fire Buyer account, with the category decided when polls close on 30 October.
